The wife of Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has clashed with fans on Twitter after disrespectful comments were made following the death of The Queen.

Rebeca Tavares joined in with the tributes after it was announced that Queen Elizabeth II had died, but there were some disrespectful comments made by Twitter accounts. With the online world, comes a lot of controversy and opinions shared, but Tavares hit out at the poorly received comments.

Fabinho's wife followed up on her initial post that was captioned 'Rest in peace Her Majesty! RIP', as she added: "It's embarrassing the state of some comments in a moment like that. Please show some respect!" And she's continued to clash with fans.

Throughout history, the city of Liverpool has had their differences with the Royal Family and also the UK Government, and that was reflected online following the announcement of The Queen's death. And with Fabinho representing Liverpool, some fans have come after his wife online after she shared her tribute.

Rebeca has built up quite the rapport with the Liverpool fans due to her active posting about Fabinho and the team, but the relationship has been tested on Thursday. One fan warned Tavares: "They would come for you."

But Tavares hit back, stating: "I don't care! I'm not here to do everything the people expect me to do. I have my belief and a think that 'respect' it's something we all need to share."

The nation has entered a period of mourning following Her Majesty's death, after it was confirmed Thursday evening by Buckingham Palace: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

Her death marks the end of the Elizabethan era and is certain to trigger an extended period of national mourning. Prince Charles, her eldest son, now becomes King having held the position of Prince of Wales for the longest period in history. Prince William is now expected to inherit that title.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, will likely now become the Queen Consort. She will be the first person to fill the role since the Queen Mother.
