Football fans could not resist connecting Ibiza's new signing to their partying way of life

Ibiza's football club have completed the signing of Coke Andujar - and fans are all making the same joke.

The Spanish second division side confirmed the signing for the veteran full-back on Friday, with the 35-year-old arriving on a free transfer from fellow LaLiga 2 side Levante. However, football fans have been quick to make a connection between the former Spanish youth international's name and a certain drug popular amongst revellers on the party island.

Following the club's announcement of the signing, one fan commented: “Not the first time Coke has been welcome to Ibiza.”

Another also wrote: “Ibiza and Coke, a match made in heaven.” A third fan later added: “Surely they have enough coke over there?”

Meanwhile, one more fan also joked: “Just easier to find Coke in Ibiza then.” Before another commented: “Ibiza signing a player called Coke is just poetic.”

Continuing with the theme, another fan also wrote: “Trademark signing for Ibiza.” The club were not helped by the fact they had included "#WelcomeCoke" in their official signing announcement.

Ibiza were promoted to the Spanish second tier for the first time in their history back in 2021, having only been founded in 2015. They have since won three promotions in the last five years.

After finishing 15th in their first season in La Liga 2, the club have yet to win any of their first three league matches this campaign, losing twice before a 1-1 draw with Alaves last weekend.

Coke will have the opportunity to make his debut for his new side Sunday evening when Ibiza travel to Huesca in search of their first win of the season.

He is not the only player to join the island club this week either after Ibiza confirmed the loan signing of 19-year-old midfielder Miguel Azeez on a season-long loan from Arsenal on Thursday.
