After one of the most sensational sagas of deadline day, Bamba Dieng will be returning to Marseille. The player was due to fly to Leeds for a medical but Nice agreed a deal for the player and stopped his flight to England. Dieng took his medical at Nice, but he failed it.
A Ligue 1 rule, known as the 'Joker' rule, allows clubs to make one signing after the window has shut, and Nice decided to pursue a deal for Dieng, however following further talks and more medical tests they have pulled the plug. Dieng will now return to Marseille after a whirlwind 48 hours.
Alonso officially joins Barcelona
Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Marcos Alonso from Chelsea on a free transfer. They had previously teased his arrival in tweets, but officially confirmed the deal this evening.
He signs a one year contract valid until June 2023.
