The Athletic has published a long article today revealing a number of behind-the-scenes details about Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Manchester United this summer, including his transfer status.

Ronaldo wants to leave Man Utd but so far there has been no real approach from any of the big Champions League clubs. In fact only Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal FC made a formal offer, but joining them would not fit Ronaldo's desire to stay in Europe's top games.

Al-Hilal FC are still interested in signing Ronaldo, while United believe he will have to stay and accept playing in the Europa League next season. With just two days to go before the summer transfer window closes, Cristiano Ronaldo's future remains uncertain.
