Manchester United showed a strong interest in Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Trapp as the transfer window closed, but in the end the German chose to stay.

Speaking to Bild, Trapp said: "In the last few days there have been a lot of reports about Manchester United's interest in me. Yes, they made a formal offer. Manchester United is a world class club and I thought a lot about an offer likethis and I hope everyone will understand."

"Yesterday, I informed the people in charge of the matter at both clubs of my decision, which was to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt. I experienced something very wonderful at Eintracht Frankfurt and we made history together. We had a bad start to the season but I have a lot of confidence in this team."
