Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have been bickering again

Sky Sports pundits and former Premier League rivals Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher are used to bickering both on our screens and online, but now the ex-Manchester United star has joked about getting his lawyers involved.

Carragher and Neville shared 'hatred' for one another during their playing days, but have struck up an unlikely friendship following their retirement. However, a large part of their relationship involved winding the other one up, with the Manchester and Liverpool divide still strong.

It even says in Carragher's Twitter bio: "Now annoying Gary Neville on Sky Sports," and he's pushed his buttons on the social media platform by having him as his profile picture but dressed up as a clown. It's finally got to Neville, and Carragher's been jokingly threatened with legal action.

Carragher removed the picture, but didn't let Neville get away with it as he changed it to arguably an even more embarrassing one. Carragher removed the clown photo, and instead replaced it with an old picture of Gary and his brother Phil holding lollipops.

Neville joked to Carragher on Twitter: "Just as a matter of interest can you remove the clown pic of me now or my lawyers will be in touch." Neville got his wish, but not without some further consequences. However, Carragher has now finally switched his profile picture back to one of him, as he eases off Neville for now.

The two are now close friends, but the same couldn't be said for when they were both cult figures at rival clubs. Carragher even admitted that he 'hated' Neville, after the United captain kissed the badge away at Anfield during a tense encounter.

"I hated him a little bit. Can you hate someone a little bit? You just hate them, I suppose!" he told Sky’s Super 6 Podcast. "There was a big rivalry between the clubs but he's kissed his badge and said things about people from Liverpool.

"He was just basically playing up to the fanzines and trying to get in with the Manchester United fans. He is a right-back, nobody is really interested in right-backs. That was his way of trying to be popular with Man Utd fans and getting a song."

The pair continue to go at it now and exchange digs, but it's done with a much more friendly nature. However, there are some occasions where emotions boil over during heated debated on live TV.
