Ralf Rangnick recommended four players to Manchester United prior to his exit from Old Trafford, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Austrian was caretaker manager for the second-half of last season and was supposed to stay on for two years in a consultancy role but left once Erik ten Hag arrived.
Prior to departing, Rangnick told the club to sign RB Leipzig duo Josko Gvardiol and Konrad Laimer.
Gvardiol has been linked with Tottenham and Chelsea, while Laimer is reportedly a target for Bayern Munich.
Rangnick also suggested that the club should move for Erling Haaland once his release clause was activated, with the Norwegian instead joining Manchester City.
Christopher Nkunku was also targeted by Rangnick, but the Frenchman recently agreed an extension with RB Leipzig.
