All associated with Liverpool have been left sweating, owing to an altogether untimely blow on the personnel front.

Jurgen Klopp’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago.

After the club’s first-choice stars got the better of Manchester City in the Community Shield a little over 24 hours ago, game-time was on this occasion afforded to a heavily altered XI, in a friendly meeting with French outfit Strasbourg at Anfield.

The Reds were ultimately put to the sword in convincing fashion by the day’s visitors, courtesy of a brace on the part of Adrien Thomasson, either side of a strike from Habib Diallo.

And yet, as alluded to above, the eventual scoreline on Merseyside in fact proved the least of Liverpool’s worries on Sunday evening.

This came as an injury blow left Jurgen Klopp and co. sweating, less than a week out from the club’s Premier League curtain-raiser versus Fulham.

The player to have been forced into an early departure from proceedings? Ibrahima Konate.

Early in the 2nd-half of action, Konate, afforded a starting berth on the day, went to ground with what appeared to be a muscular problem.

After being allowed to continue upon returning to his feet, the stopper quickly set pulses racing once more in dropping to the turf for the 2nd time, before eventually limping off.

It now remains to be seen whether Konate faces any sort of extended spell on the sidelines.
