MANCHESTER UNITED boss Erik ten Hag was left seething after his players failed to score in their 1-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid.
The loss in Norway was the first time the Dutchman has been on the losing side since taking charge of the Red Devils earlier in the summer.
Erik ten Hag has hit out at his Manchester United side after they failed to score against Atletico Madrid
Joao Felix scored an 86th minute at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, before Fred was sent off for a horror stamp in stoppage time.
Not only was it United's first defeat under Ten Hag, but it was the first time they have failed to find the back of the net in pre-season.
And the ex-Ajax gaffer has branded United's display as "unacceptable" after they drew a blank against their Spanish opponents.
Though United did have plenty of chances to find the back of the net with Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford all going close.
Speaking after the match, Ten Hag said: "You have to take benefit if you create chances.
"They created less chances and scored one, so from that point I am not satisfied.
"I have told the team it is not acceptable because you have to be sharp in both boxes.
"Also from set-plays we had a big chance from Harry Maguire, so we had enough to win the game and that is always our aim.
"It was a tough work out but we contributed really well and the performance for the team was really good.
"Of course, we learned something but in the end it's about the result and the score was not good."
And Ten Hag then went on to state that he wasn't happy with some of the reckless tackles during the feisty encounter.
He added: "I saw some tackles that were maybe over the limit.
"I like competitive but I always want to show respect because I don't want to have injuries, so that is why you have to keep respect for each other."
