Bernardo Silva: Back in Barcelona's sights

In the last few hours, Bernardo Silva's name has once again been linked to Barcelona.

Manchester City, according to L'Equipe, would be willing to part with the player, and his agent Jorge Mendes has offered him to Barcelona and Real Madrid, although Los Blancos aren't interested.

The French newspaper claims a figure close to 80 million euros would facilitate his departure.

Manchester City are interested in signing Lucas Paqueta from Lyon, and are thinking of selling the Portuguese midfielder first, in order to be able to deal with the French club.

Bernardo Silva, a 27-year-old Portuguese international, can play as a midfielder or right winger.

His style could be a good fit for Xavi Hernandez's Barcelona and would shore up a squad that is already giving fans plenty to dream about for next season.

Frenkie de Jong's future

Although Laporta has recently insisted that De Jong and the club want to maintain their relationship, the truth is that if Bernardo Silva's departure were to materialise, the spotlight would be on the Dutchman, as their roles on the pitch would be strikingly similar.

The story of Bernardo Silva and Barcelona is not new, as the Catalan side think highly of the former Monaco player and make no secret of it.

In fact, Joan Laporta joked with Pep Guardiola in June about whether he was sure his player would continue in the City shirt in a charity friendly against ALS on 24 August at the Camp Nou.

Bernardo Silva has made a total of 50 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City in the 2021-22 season, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists.

The Portugal international, on paper, would fit in very well with the Barcelona set-up and would further bolster a very strong squad.
