Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has yet to rule out finding a replacement for Robert

German champions Bayern Munich are set for what is expected to be another season of dominance in the Bundesliga in 2022-23 when they clash with RB Leipzig tomorrow night in the DFL-Supercup at Red Bull Arena.

But for the first time since 2013-14, the Rekordmeister will be without the services of Polish star Robert Lewandowski after the Warsaw native and all-time leading goalscorer for Biało-czerwoni departed Bavaria for Catalunya and Spanish giants Barcelona.

According to Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann, the club has yet to rule out a possible move for a replacement before the end of the summer transfer window.

"The transfer window is still open for four weeks, something can still happen. We will continue to keep our eyes open to see if anything is happening on the transfer market that may not have happened yet. Or what could still happen."

Bayern did move quickly this summer to bring Liverpool star Sadio Mané in a €41m (£34m) for the 30-year-old Senegalese icon, who Nagelsmann previously confirmed would be deployed as a striker at the Allianz Arena; "Sadio is a striker, he will definitely play as a striker."

The German giants can also count on possibly deploying national team star Serge Gnabry through the middle as he has found success doing so when representing his country (11 goals in 19 appearances as a number 9) given the fact that Bayern does have other wide options to count on through Mané himself as well as both Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman.

Nagelsmann's men were also supplied with French youth starlet Mathys Tel after the U18 goalscoring center-forward was purchased for €20m (~£17m) from Stade Rennais three days ago, but Tel is hardly expected to see much time on the pitch.

Beyond Tel, Bayern can call only call upon Dutch youngster Joshua Zirkzee and Cameroonian international Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to fill the void through the middle, so it should come as no surprise that Nagelsmann has yet to close the book on the club's summer business regarding the center-forward channel.
