And Beckham was one of the first to pay tribute to their phenomenal Euros run - which will finish against Germany or France this weekend.

Speaking on Instagram, he said: "What a night. Congratulations to the girls."

He then posted an image of Rachel Daly in an England cowboy hat and added the caption: "Favourite picture on a special night."

Prior to the semi-final, Beckham sent the Lionesses a good luck message and praised them for inspiring his 11-year-old daughter Harper.

He said: "Hey, Lionesses, it’s David here. I just wanted to send you a message, firstly to say congratulations on an incredible tournament so far, it’s been so uplifting, it’s been so exciting, and it’s been so inspiring.

"And for me personally, you know I have a daughter, so for her to be inspired by you girls and your performances has been incredible.

"But it’s not just the girls that are getting inspired, the boys are getting inspired as well by this and we all know that when big tournaments come around our country and our fans get behind us like no other. It really has uplifted the whole country.

"We’re all excited to see it [the semi-final] and I know there’s one person that is really excited to see it and that is my daughter, Harper.

"So thank you for inspiring her and good luck girls."

England are now the favourites to lift the trophy - regardless of who they face in the final.

Germany, who won the Euros six times in a row before Holland ended their run in 2017, are the slight favourites to edge past France.

The Lionesses are hoping to go one step further than the men's team last summer - with Gareth Southgate's men losing their final on penalties to Italy.
