Dani Alves: Barcelona don't care about those who made history at the club

Dani Alves is confident he can make it to this year's World Cup. To do so, the Brazilian full-back is looking for a team in the current transfer market after leaving Barcelona.

Despite being 39 years old, he believes he still has a lot of football ahead of him. While he is analysing his next destination, where he could end up playing in Mexico with Pumas, the Brazilian spoke about his second spell with Barcelona.

On his second goodbye to the Spanish club, Alves admits that it was not sad, but he would have liked to end differently.

"I was happy to be back in Barcelona. I dreamed for five years of living that second stage," Alves told The Guardian.

"The only thing I didn't like was how my farewell was handled.

"Since I arrived I made it very clear that I was no longer a 20-year-old and that I wanted things to be done straight, without hiding things. But this club has sinned in recent years. Barcelona doesn't care about the people who made history at the club. As a Cule [Barcelona fan] I would like Barcelona to do things differently."

Grateful to Xavi for giving him another chance

However, the Brazilian international acknowledges that it was a great opportunity for his career to play at Camp Nou again, especially under the tutelage of his former teammate, Xavi.

"I am eternally grateful to Xavi and the president for bringing me back," he continued.

"I found a club full of young people with incredible ideas on the pitch.

"The club needs to improve the work off the pitch. The mentality is totally the opposite of what we built a few years ago. Everything that happens on the pitch is a reflection of what happens off it."

He is considering offers to continue his career

Since the veteran Brazilian full-back left the Spanish club, he has been linked with a number of teams, including Liga MX side Pumas UNAM. Alves, when pressed on the matter neither confirmed or denied it.

"I like challenges and I adapt to any situation," he declared.

"Interesting things have come up, I'm studying them."

Dani Alves' objective is to play in the World Cup to be held this year in Qatar. He needs a team to keep proving that he has the level to represent the Brazilian national team.
