Chelsea leading Bayern Munich in race for Juventus defender de Ligt

Chelsea are ahead of Bayern Munich in the race for Mattijs de Ligt.

The Juventus defender is being linked with an exit from Turin, with his contract set to expire in 2024.

Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring De Ligt to Stamford Bridge and new owner Todd Boehly wants to help his manager.

Bayern have also emerged as a suitor for the 22-year-old, but Goal says Chelsea are leading the race.

So far it has been a summer of departures in west London.

The Blues have lost Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger to free agency.

Last summer's record signing Romelu Lukaku was also loaned to Inter Milan for the season.
