Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij ‘waiting for a call’ as Man Utd plot transfer swoop for Dutch star

STEFAN DE VRIJ has emerged as one of Manchester United's top transfer targets, according to reports.
The defender, 30, joined Inter Milan from Lazio in 2018 and has since made 163 appearances for the Italian giants.
Man Utd could attempt to sign De Vrij this summer
But, his current contract expires next summer so the club are open to the idea of selling him as soon as possible to avoid the risk of losing him for free.
As a result, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, Man Utd are interested in a potential swoop.
Signing a defender is at the top of Erik ten Hag's list of priorities and he is said to be considering De Vrij because of the Dutchman's ability to dribble the ball.
The Red Devils have not yet made an official offer as the centre back is still waiting for confirmation from Inter regarding his future.
If he is given the green light to leave, United will likely consider a serious bid.
But until that happens, Ten Hag is focussing on other potential additions.
Man Utd have not made any new signings so far this summer, however, they are close to securing the signature of Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.
The 22-year-old is set to join the club in a £15million move to help improve the defence.
Frenkie de Jong still remains a priority target for the Red Devils, but it might be a difficult to lure him away from Barcelona.
A £56m deal plus add-ons has already been agreed between the two clubs, although the midfielder reportedly wants to stay at Camp Nou.
Man Utd are also likely to bring in another attacker following the shocking revelation that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave this summer.
