7M Exclusive - Manchester United increasingly confident Eriksen will accept their offer

Manchester United still hope that Christian Eriksen will choose to join them, according to reporter Sam Pilger.

United made an offer for Eriksen earlier this month and are awaiting a response from him.

It was reported over the weekend that the Danish had rejected the offer, but such rumours were too hasty as Eriksen has yet to make a final decision.

Instead, United are increasingly confident that Eriksen has been persuaded by Erik ten Hag and will accept their offer.

It is understood that whatever decision Eriksen makes, he will inform Manchester United this week, and the Red Devils believe they have made the most lucrative and attractive offer for the player.

Eriksen is not seen as a replacement of Frenkie de Jong, with ten Hag looking to sign both players at the same time. Brentford have also made an offer for Eriksen, with Tottenham's interest in the Denmark international waning.

Eriksen joined Brentford midway through last season. He played 11 games for the team, scoring 1 goal and providing 4 assists. He quickly returned to his best form. Since February this year, Eriksen is second only to Kevin De Bruyne and Martin Odegaard in the number of goals created in the Premier League.

United know they face competition from Brentford, staying with the Bees means Eriksen does not have to be separated from his family and continues to live in London, and he has a close relationship with manager Thomas Frank. However, Eriksen is also aware that United offer a bigger stage and a better contract.
