7M Exclusive - Red Devils' 1st signing is coming?

Manchester United are getting closer to sign De Jong, with the Red Devils ready to increase their offer to 80m euros.
Barcelona had previously rejected two offers from Manchester United (€60m and €70m), but recently the difference in valuation between the two clubs has narrowed. The Red Devils are ready to increase their offer to €80 million and Barca may be willing to complete the deal at that price.
The Catalan club have been holding out for €85 million, but are keen to conclude the deal by Thursday. Once De Jong is signed, Man Utd are expected to go on to complete a series of reinforcements.
The price will be a lower initial payment plus a bonus clause, which could be split over several seasons. Although €80 million will be a large part of United's transfer budget this summer, Erik ten Hag believes De Jong is worth it.
Signing De Jong would help Man Utd in their pursuit of Eriksen, with the Danish also considering offers from Everton, Newcastle, Leicester City and Brentford. He is in no rush to make a decision and will assess the team's ambitions and squad situation.
Man Utd are also interested in Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia, but they face competition from Lyon, with the French side having sent three offers for him.
