Manchester United stars David de Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo have been having some fun on Instagram during their holidays, as the Spaniard poked fun at the 37-year-old's gym picture
David de Gea has mocked Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese star shared a picture in the gym to his millions of Instagram followers.
The season may have drawn to a close, but that doesn't mean that the work stops for Ronaldo, who is still maintaining his shredded physique in the gym. Whereas some opted for boozy getaways across the world, Ronaldo is choosing to relax in his home gym, as the 37-year-old looks to remain sharp next season.
And while team-mate De Gea is enjoying some time away from the field, he couldn't help but poke fun at the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. As he commented "missing a little gym" on his recent post.
Despite nearing the age of 40, Ronaldo has the body of someone ten years younger, and he continues to defy the odds at this stage in his career. Many retire into their early 30's, but Ronaldo is looking to play into his 40's with the help of extreme fitness and expert recovery techniques.
But that hasn't stopped De Gea from joking around on his recent post as his sarcastic comment amused United fans. Both De Gea and Ronaldo were two of United's best players last season, and without them it could have been a very different story.
United scraped a Europa League place despite losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace on the final day of the season, and it was their worst ever Premier League campaign to date. Ronaldo managed 24 goals during his first season back at United, and De Gea was statistically one of the best goalkeepers in the division.

Although Ronaldo is halfway through his two-year contract at United, there is some uncertainty over whether he will be there next season under new boss Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman is known for prioritising a young squad, and Ronaldo will be 38 before the end of next season.
Italian outlet La Repubblica have even suggested that Ronaldo could be looking to leave the club over concerns he will not be given a consistent starting role, although there is so far no suggestion that is the case. United currently have no natural striking options other than Ronaldo, after Edinson Cavani left the club.
It's set to be a huge transitional year for United, with Ten Hag looking to change their fortunes. But even with his youthful philosophy, surely Ronaldo is an exception to the rule.
