Former Ibrox hit man Defoe spent three years on loan at Rangers as his career wound down.

He then joined Sunderland last year, where he would make a further 7 appearances before announcing his retirement from the professional game.

And the ex-Tottenham Hotspur icon has used his summer break to marry girlfriend Donna Tierney this month.

After tying the knot, the pair jetted off to The Maldives to honeymoon in the sun.

And Tierney has been sharing photos of the holiday on Instagram, where she had revealed that the luxurious Waldorf Astoria hotel had laid on a footy match for the newlyweds.

The 5-star venue even made custom shirts for them as they faced-off with the staff.

The bride was even a substitute in the match as she played in the second half.

After full-time, she then uploaded a picture which displayed the jersey specially made for the match.

Meanwhile, Rangers starlet Malcolm Ebiowei has been monitored by TWO Premier League clubs.

According to reports, the youngster is a man in demand as English top-flight clubs keep tabs.

The youngster left Ibrox last summer and enjoyed a breakthrough season at Derby County.

Wayne Rooney's side bravely fought to stay up despite a points deduction - but were eventually relegated in the end.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester United and Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign him up despite interest elsewhere from Monaco.

It had been previously reported in a SunSport exclusive that Leeds and Spurs were also considering offers.

Ebiowei didn't make a senior appearance for The Gers but can play either through the middle as a striker or out wide.

He impressed in action for the reserves, leading to Rooney giving him a first-team call-up.

He went on to feature 16 times in the first team where he scored once and registering two assists in the Championship.

But he will not be hanging around at Pride Park as his contract expires at the end of the month.
