Bayern Munich ask Lewandowski for a truce

Robert Lewandowski is determined to move to Barcelona, despite having a year left on his contract with Bayern Munich.

His latest comments have left no room for doubt, despite Bayern's refusal to facilitate his departure.

The Poland international and the German institution are involved in one of this summer's transfer wars, but the aim is to call a truce, at least for the time being.

"He has a contract with us until 2023 and we are very happy that he is still here. I think things will calm down from now on," Hasan Salihamizdic, Bayern Munich's sporting director, told Bild.

"We know what we have with him and he knows what he has here. We talked about his public comments and that we should all calm down."

Salihamizdic acknowledged that he had spoken with Lewandowski and that, for the time being, they have agreed on a truce.

At least in terms of public statements attacking each other, because their positions remain clearly at loggerheads.

Move to Barcelona?

Barcelona are also keeping calm and, for example, Joan Laporta refused to comment on the status of negotiations over the veteran striker on Saturday.

"We are not going to talk about him because it would be disrespectful to Bayern," Laporta said.

Despite the truce requested by Bayern, Lewandowski is determined to spend next season at the Camp Nou.

Although he has other offers, which are more substantial financially, he is determined to sign for the Catalan club, who are doing everything in their power to sign him.

The Pole is the main target for the Catalan side and every effort is being made to sign him.
