Unfortunately, there are moments in which even close acquaintances of the involved parties can get stained by lies. In this case, teammate Gavi was talked about as part of the entire scandal just a few days ago.
In the effort to find the woman with which Gerard Pique was allegedly unfaithful to Shakira, there were some news organizations that didn't seem to care about fake news. They took a lie and transformed it into something that snowballed quickly to levels we see too often for our taste. But let's begin with the truth first, shall we?

Who announced the Shakira and Pique split first?
Writing for 'El Periodico', journalist Emilio Perez de Rozas was the first one who wrote about Gerard Pique and Shakira going through a rough patch in their relationship on May 31st. However, he didn't mention the FC Barcelona footballer's infidelity. That came a day later when videopodcast 'Mamarazzis' broke the full story, journalists Laura Fa and Lorena Vazquez had the scoop.
They said Shakira caught Pique cheating on her with a young blonde woman who was still a student and an even hostess, she is 20-years of age and her name wasn't specified. After that, the rumor about Gavi's mother came and all hell broke loose.

Where did Gavi's mother rumor come from?
The fake news about Pique cheating on Shakira with teammate Gavi's mother came from Turkey, a journalist named Melih Esat allegedly broke the story that turned out to be a massive lie. He has 150,000 followers on Twitter and a verified account. The journo cited 'El Periodico' as the source but there was no substanciation to this information. He wrote the following tweet: "Shakira caught Gerard Pique having an affair with another woman.
"That woman turned out to be the mother of young Barcelona star, Pablo Gavi. Gavi isn't aware of the incident. Anything can happen to you or me in a world where Shakira gets cheated on!" A completely irresponsible tweet that snowballed into a PR disaster for all parties involved. Esat shared a picture signaling a woman who wasn't even Gavi's mother but his sister. All lies but the damage is already done. He might get a lawsuit from this.
