But Chelsea are hoping to pounce once he turns 18 in August and the sale of the Blues is completed and their transfer ban lifted.

Hyrylainen has one year left on his contract with Germany's Europa League finalists.

Chelsea have been under a transfer ban since early March following UK government sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The club's affairs at one stage were so dire it was feared the club may go bust.

They were unable to earn any commercial revenue or make any moves in the transfer market after Abramovich had his UK assets, including Chelsea FC, frozen.

However, after the UK government handed jurisdiction of the takeover process to Raine Group, a vigorous process has gone underway to determine the new owner of The Blues.

With intense interest from a number of parties including the Ricketts Family, Sir Marin Broughton and Sir Lewis Hamilton, and Stephen Pagliuca, the new owner looks set to be Todd Boehly.

Boehly is set to be cleared to but the club for a colossal fee of £4bn, with £2.5bn of this to be paid up front and another £1.75bn to be invested over the next decade by the LA Dodgers owner.

The takeover is subject to approval from the Premier League and the government, but Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters has said the deal could be concluded within 10 days.

On the pitch Chelsea have confirmed Champions League football for another season under Thomas Tuchel, having Newcastle to thank for beating Arsenal on Monday night to avoid any final day jitters.
