Chelsea fans loved Todd Boehly’s reaction after having a goal denied by VAR during their Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday.

The American was spotted at Stamford Bridge for the first time since being confirmed as the Blues’ new owner. Boehly put pen to paper to purchase the club from Roman Abramovich in a deal worth £4.25bn on Saturday morning.

And the new owner is already showing passion for the west London club, having reacted to Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s goal by standing up, applauding and whistling in true American style. The midfielder thought he had put Chelsea 1-0 up before half-time, and so did Boehly, until VAR ruled it out for offside.

The 46-year-old reacted to the on-screen decision by looking around in confusion. And fans immediately took to Twitter to react to the owner’s hilarious reaction.

One Twitter user wrote: “Boehly whistling had me dead.” Another added: “His whistle as a form of celebration got me.”

Others issued the same sentiment, tweeting: “He is all of us” and “Love the passion."

Boehly’s £4.25bn deal is said to include a £2.5bn up-front share purchase and an additional £1.75bn which will be used to investment in the club's stadium, squad and academy.

The club confirmed the deal in a statement which read: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.

"Of the total investment being made, £2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich.

"UK Government approval will be required for the proceeds to be transferred from the frozen UK bank account. The sale is expected to complete in late May subject to all necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time."
