Neymar on criticism and social media: If there is no one to help you overcome those moments...

Neymar has been on the receiving end of criticism from PSG fans this season along with some of his teammates due to their team's performances.

Despite winning Ligue 1, PSG players were blasted for being eliminated at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League's Round of 16.

"Of course nobody wants to be booed, especially if you're playing at home," said Neymar in a chat with his friend and former Atletico Madrid midfielder Diego Ribas.

"It's sad, but I had to find strength somewhere. I remembered all the people who helped me get to where I am now, and I try to play for them. I can't let myself be affected by the boos and let my family down. There are games where you can play for the fans, when everything is fine. Then there are the boos, and then I cling to my family."

The PSG star, who is very active on social media, also spoke about how to handle the networks to avoid being affected by fans' comments.

"Social media... I think they hurt more than they help," added Neymar.

"Because if you play well and you go and check, it's all good news and smiles. But when you don't play well, it's not good for your head. If there's no one to help you through those moments, it's very hard. Social media is a very dangerous thing nowadays."

The Champions League and the World Cup

Neymar went on to discuss his ultimate objective this calendar year which is nothing else other than winning the World Cup with Brazil.

"I really wanted to win the Champions League with PSG this time, but unfortunately we couldn't," Neymar said.

"Now I want to finish 2022 with the World Cup title. I'm preparing myself physically and mentally so that everything goes well and we have a 'Brazilian World Cup' this time.

"I will give my life for it, I have already played in two [World Cups] and I know how it works. If you're not prepared, the opportunity is gone, so I can't let it slip away."
