Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany insists that Gavi wants to stay at the club and that the relevant parties are working on getting a new deal done for the teenager.
Speaking ahead of the Catalans' game against Real Betis, Alemany gave a reassuring message to the Barcelona fans.
"Gavi wants to stay," Alemany told Movistar.
"We have been negotiating for a long time so that he can stay at Barcelona for many years."
Alemany feels Barcelona are well covered in the goalkeeper position, with Neto making a rare start at Betis.
"Neto is a great goalkeeper as is Ter Stegen," he said. "The Brazilian has one more year on his contract.
"And we also have two young players like Arnau Tenas and Inaki Pena with whom we are very happy. It's a position we have well covered."
While the league title is no longer available, the aim for the club is to fight for second place.
"Barcelona's obligation is to be at the top," he said. "Our natural state is to fight for the titles, but now our current aim is to finish second."
