His friends say that he only needs to play on the moon as Spaniard Jesus Jimenez continues to enjoy football outside his own country.

After his time in the Polish league, where he scored 43 goals and provided 27 assists in the 134 games he played for Gornik Zabrze, he set off in a new direction in Major League Soccer.

In February he travelled to Canada to sign for MLS club Toronto, and from the start he has become a benchmark player. He has played eight games and already has six goals and two assists to his name.

During the last matchday he scored his first brace against New York City - in 26 minutes he scored both goals. Jesus Jimenez is the top scorer in the North American league, along with Austin's Argentinian Sebastian Driussi.

"I'm happy, as I'm playing a lot and scoring goals," the Toronto No.9 assured MARCA. "Let's hope the streak continues for the good of everyone.

"The truth is that I adapted quickly, as the club always helps you to adapt as well as possible.

"Toronto is an entity who work very well and always help the player, and I think that is important for everyone.

"The League has a good level, and the sporting spirit is magnificent. Whichever stadium you go to, the atmosphere is very healthy, very sporting and the stands are very encouraging."

Linking up with Insigne

Lorenzo Insigne, Napoli's captain and the most creative player in the Italy squad that won the last European Championship, has signed a four-season contract with Toronto at the age of 30, making him a teammate of the Spanish MLS top scorer.

"It will be an honour for me to have him in my team. You always have to learn from great players," said Jesus Jimenez.

"In Poland I was able to play alongside Lukas Podolski and now I will be able to play alongside Insigne, which is always a privilege. The truth is that I'm lucky to play alongside some real stars."
