Ajax forward Brian Brobbey has told Erik ten Hag to sign him for Manchester United.
Ten Hag will take over from Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford at the end of the season. But he still has the small matter of the Eredivisie title to sort out with current club Ajax.
The Amsterdam club maintained the position at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over NEC Nijmegen on Saturday, with Brobbey netting the winner in the 88th minute. After rescuing his side's blushes, the 20-year-old Dutch striker gave an interview where he appeared to talk up his own prospects of a future move to United.
"I am very happy for him and he really deserves it after everything he has done for Ajax," Brobbey said of Ten Hag. Before continuing: "If only he brings me with him in two years.... no no.. joking joking!"
Brobbey is one of Europe's hottest young prospects and has five goals in ten games for Ajax since his loan switch from RB Leipzig in December. But while a switch to Old Trafford might be too soon for Brobbey, Ten Hag could move for his team-mate Antony instead.
The Brazilian winger has been linked with a move to United, and club chiefs are reportedly keen to secure a deal before the World Cup later this year in case his value rises during the tournament.
Ten Hag was appointed United manager last week, with the news confirmed via a statement on the club's website. Ten Hag said of the move: "It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead.
"I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve.
"It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years, and I can assure our fans of my complete commitment and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United."
