Footage has emerged of Paul Pogba cupping his ears to the Manchester United fans as he trudged off the pitch, causing widespread outrage after the win over Norwich City.

The midfielder had been targeted throughout the match by his own supporters in a poisonous atmosphere at Old Trafford. Protests over the Glazers' ownership engulfed the day with fans chanting throughout the match - before and after as well - denouncing the Americans.

And the Frenchman was also included, with chants of "f*** off Pogba" ringing around while also being booed during the 3-2 win. That was despite the 28-year-old actually having a decent match while he played in an unfamiliar role as the deepest midfielder, behind Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard.

After a Cristiano Ronaldo inspired United to victory against Norwich with a hat-trick in the win, as the players made their way down the tunnel there was still some boos for Pogba but plenty of applause as well. The midfielder was filmed cupping his ear to the fans, which was followed by a furious reaction from the supporters.

Ralf Rangnick was asked about the boos at Pogba and he said: "I didn't hear it myself but I was informed after the game. I can fully understand the fans are frustrated, so are we, but I don't think they should take on individual players. I don't think that is right or correct."

Pogba is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to leave for nothing in the summer amid interest from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. After signing from Juve back in 2016 for a then-world record fee of £89million, that is quite the decline.

But should the World Cup winner depart, it will put to bed years of speculation over his future where at times he seemed destined to leave. There might be a tinge of regret about the whole move from Pogba, who has won just the Europa League and League Cup during his time at United.

Despite the unhappiness, there are plenty of reasons to feel positive after the win over Norwich. With Tottenham and Arsenal losing, it has taken the Red Devils a step closer to clinching a spot in the top-four.

And they can thank Ronaldo after his hat-trick with David de Gea praising the 37-year-old. He said: "Ronaldo has scored three very important goals for us. We know we aren't playing very well but we got three points. We should control the game more against Norwich at home.

"A massive win for us. We still have a chance to finish top four and we have to fight for it. "We will fight for the top four until the last second."
