Martial had an affair when Da Cruz was heavily pregnant

Manchester United star Anthony Martial has been dumped by his wife after years of ups and downs.

Melanie Da Cruz, 30, announced her break-up from the misfiring striker, who had an affair while she was eight months pregnant. A source told the Daily Star Sunday the heartbroken French TV star called time on their three-year marriage.

Melanie, who shares four-year-old son Swan with Martial told her followers online that “love wasn’t enough”. Posting in French, she spoke of her “pain” and said: “Sometimes to win a race you have to stop running.”

Melanie did not give a reason for the end of her three-year marriage. It is the latest setback for the footballer, 26, who has been booed by fans of his loan side Sevilla. He is being returned to United after failing to score during his spell in Spain.

Our source said: “Things aren’t going brilliantly for Martial on the pitch and it looks like life at home has been rocky too. Melanie’s statement came as a shock to her fans and it’s probably the icing on the cake after a bad few months for Anthony. They’ve had their struggles. All they care about going forward is the well-being of their son and raising him amicably.”

The pair’s five-year relationship has previously faced controversy. In 2019, we revealed Martial had bedded French model Malika Semichi while Melanie was heavily pregnant. After his son was born, Martial continued to send Malika explicit messages for several months. Martial and Melanie met in 2016 when he was with his previous flame Samantha Jacquelinet, who the footballer was accused of cheating on.
