The win saw Roma move within five points of the top four in Serie A.

But Mourinho is likely to wake up with a headache tomorrow morning for all the wrong reasons.

That's after bashing his head against the corner of the dugout roof.

Incensed by a decision during the game, Jose jumped out of his seat to protest.

However, the dugout at Sampdoria's Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa is slightly submerged, meaning those on the bench are sat lower than the playing surface.

And as Mourinho jumped up onto the pitch, he forgot about the height difference.

The Portuguese tactician gasped in pain as his head cracked against the low-hanging beam.

And Mourinho immediately crouched down in painful scenes for onlookers.

However, at least the Special One suffered for his pain.

That's because Henrikh Mkhitaryan's 27th minute strike was enough to seal the result.

The former Man Utd and Arsenal winger is out of contract this summer.

But Fabrizio Romano claims Mourinho - who bought and sold Mkhitaryan at United - has instructed Roma to open talks over a new deal.

Mkhitaryan has four goals and five assists in the league this term, and continues to be an important player despite turning 33 in January.
