Hope Solo's statement after drink driving arrest: My children are my life

Former goalkeeper Hope Solo has found herself at the centre of a drink driving scandal in the United States, having been arrested on Thursday, March 31, but insists the matter is not as serious as has been reported.
The ex-United States goalkeeper was arrested on charges of drink driving and a misdemeanour of endangering her children's lives, with them in the car with her.
"On the advice of counsel, Hope can't speak about this situation," read a post from her representatives on social media. "But she wants everyone to know that her kids are her life, that she was released immediately and is now at home with the family, that the story is more sympathetic than the initial charges suggest, and that she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these charges."
The post was signed off by Rich Nichols, Hope Solo's counsel.
