The club are hoping to agree a new deal with the Frenchman

The future of Ousmane Dembele is back on the table. Barcelona have already contacted the Frenchman's agent to resume negotiations.

In doing so, the club have taken a first step to reopen a folder that seemed closed at the beginning of the year. In the coming days, there is still no date set, both parties will sit down to address, again, the future of the international, whose contract ends this June and, therefore, has been free to negotiate with another club since January.

However, the player has not yet signed anything with anyone.

Just a week ago Rafael Yuste, said that he did not rule out that Barcelona would offer the winger a renewal. Since, a lot of people at the club, and some from the dressing room, have praised the Frenchman.

The club have decided to take the first step and the player's agents are thought to be willing to listen to the club, according to Sport.

Negotiations broke down between the two parties in January because of economic differences. The winger was not even selected for some matches as the club looked to pressure him. Barcelona wanted him to either renew or leave for a fee in the winter, as his contract expires in June.

Seven assists and a goal in 2022

Despite not reaching an agreement, Xavi Hernandez warned that Dembele would play as long as he considered him to be good and necessary for the group. That has allowed the Frenchman to turn the whistles of the Camp Nou into applause.

He has performed at a very good level, with seven LaLiga Santander assists and a goal in 2022. Because of his great form, the club have decided to reach out to the player and try to find an agreement.
