Atletico Madrid to trigger €40M option in Griezmann's Barcelona loan

Atletico Madrid plan to trigger the €40m option in Antoine Griezmann's loan from Barcelona.

El Desmarque report that the French forward is featuring in Atletico's plans for next season and, therefore, they will make the payment to Barça.

The clause would have been activated automatically if Griezmann played 50 percent of the games which he was available for. He is currently at 66 percent, despite missing a large spell of the season due to injury.

Griezmann's transfer will be a boost to Barça's finances, both in terms of the fee they will receive and the amount they will save on his salary.

With the club currently over their spending limit, they need sales in order to be active in the summer market.
