French star Pogba described his agony at not knowing whether his kids were safe during the robbery.

The midfielder - who recently celebrated his 29th birthday - said the heist lasted for "less than five minutes" and happened during the final seconds of the game.

His wife, mum-of-two Zulay, was at the stadium when the robbers broke into the family's £3.5m mansion in Hale, Gtr Manchester, and stole a safe containing his most prized possessions.

In a social media post, the footballer described the incident as his "worst nightmare."

He wrote: "Last night our family's worst nightmare was realised when our home was broken into and and burglarised while our babies were sleeping in their bedroom.

"The burglars were in our home for less than five minutes but in that time they took from us something more valuable than anything we had in our home… our sense of safety and security.

"This occurred during the final minutes of last night's match when they knew that we would not be home.

"My wife and I rushed home not knowing if our children were safe and unharmed.

"As a father there is no feeling worse in this world than not being there to protect your children and I sincerely hope that no one ever has to feel what I felt last night.

"It is for this reason that I would like to offer a reward for anyone who has a clue to help us.

A GMP spokeswoman said: “At 10.54pm on 16 March, police were called with a report of a burglary at a property in in Hale Barns.

"Initial enquiries have established that the unknown offender entered the property before stealing a safe.

"Enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made. No one was injured in the incident."

Pogba is the latest United star to be targeted by criminals after teammates Victor Lindelof, Jesse Lingard and Hannibal Mejbri all had their homes burgled this year.

The club have beefed up security and now have four 24/7 security teams who patrol the homes of the first team squad.
