Arsenal and Liverpool are both keen to bring Lille striker Jonathan David to England.
The Canada international has been linked with a move away this summer.
Le 10 Sport says the Gunners have made David a priority target for the end of season. But Liverpool are also keen.
The Reds have been in contact with David's minders to register their interest.
A move to England is appearing likely, with long-term suitors PSG and Inter Milan now pulling back from their original interest.
