American coach Jesse Marsch has been announced as the new manager of Leeds United after the Premier League strugglers sacked boss Marcelo Bielsa on Sunday morning
Leeds United have confirmed the appointment of Jesse Marsch as the club's new manager, pending international clearance.
He replaces Marcelo Bielsa, who departed Elland Road on Sunday.
Marsch has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with the club until the summer of 2025 and will take charge of his first match on Saturday when Leeds travel to face Leicester City in the Premier League.
Bielsa left his role as manager on Sunday morning by mutual consent following almost four years in the dugout in Yorkshire, which included promotion to the top-flight.
However, with the club currently just two points above the relegation zone as the run-in approaches, Marsch has been installed as the man to keep Leeds up.
Everton and Burnley both have games in hand on Leeds, who are now just two points above the relegation zone.
Speaking about the appointment, Leeds Director of Football Victor Orta told the club's website: "We are delighted to welcome Jesse to the club and excited for him to lead us into this new chapter.
"Jesse is someone we identified a number of years ago during his time at Red Bull Salzburg and we believe his philosophy and style of football aligns with that of the club and will suit the players very well.
"We have a long-term plan and firmly believe he can take Leeds United to the next level and are excited for what the future holds."
Jesse Marsch's most recent role was as manager of RB Leipzig in Germany
Marsch's most recent managerial role was in Germany with RB Leipzig, although he was sacked in December after just 20 matches in charge.
Prior to this, he won back-to-back league and cup doubles in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg and has also worked in Major League Soccer in the past.
He guided Salzburg into the group stages of the Champions League for the first time in more than two decades during his first season in charge.
