Fans have been left in awe at Demba Ba's impressive hairstyle after the iconic former West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea striker appeared on punditry duty this week.

The former Senegal forward, who called time on his professional career in December at the age of 36, was known for his shaved head while smashing home goals in the Premier League.

However, some spectators seemed to believe that Ba had actually lost his hair through the misfortune of male pattern baldness - but that seems to be far from the truth.

Ba in fact had a longer style throughout the last few years of his career, but fans have only just clocked that he seemingly chose to shave it off throughout his time in England.

A second said: "I refuse to believe this is Demba Ba."

A third continued: "This can't be the same man."

With a fourth adding: "Dude was bald by choice lol."

Ba scored 43 goals across 99 Premier League appearances across six months with West Ham and two seasons with both Newcastle and then Chelsea between 2011 and 2014.

He is also remembered for scoring against Chelsea following Steven Gerrard's famous slip, with Blues fans hailing him after his retirement announcement.

Ba wrote on Twitter at the time: "It is with a heart filled with gratefulness that I announce the end of my playing career.

"What a wonderful journey it has been.

"Beside all the sweat and tears I have faced, football has given me so many beautiful emotions.

"From the passion of the fans and the noise coming from the stands after every goal to the connection with my teammates on and off the field , this will forever remain in my head and heart.

"I wanna thank everyone I've crossed paths with and helped me grow, every club and manager for given me an opportunity, the fans for their tremendous support and my family and friends for unconditional love.

"From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU. Praise be to the almighty."
