Ian Wright thankfully appeared unscathed

Wright was on his way to Manchester in adverse weather conditions when his vehicle was forced to stop on the side of the M56.

He was able to tweet a selfie of himself grinning on the side of the motorway with the wreckage in the background, indicating that all was well.

He accompanied the snap with the message: "Not a straightforward trip up for @BBCMOTD!

"Thankfully nobody was hurt.

"Be careful out there, lots of water on the road.

"Thank you to my amazing driver Jay and the brilliant emergency services 🙏🏾
"See you tonight 😁📺⚽"

MOTD pal Alan Shearer cheekily responded: "Jeez😱😱😱. And you made it in time to see the toon score 😍😍"

Britain has felt the devastating effects of Storm Eunice over the last 24 hours.

Almost half a million people have been left without power, as the 122mph winds caused havoc.

The football world has also been affected, with Tottenham and Burnley having their pre-match flights cancelled yesterday.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno shared an image of his garden after a tree fell down - narrowly avoiding his house.

While the wind has eased today the UK has been hit by torrential rain.

Salford's clash with Crawley, Fleetwood's match against Lincoln and Morecambe's trip to Shrewsbury were postponed just hours before kick-off, while last night's match between Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest was also axed late on.

Exeter's clash with Barrow initially set for this afternoon was also postponed yesterday.

Despite havoc caused at EFL clubs, one Premier League side hasn't been having many problems at their home ground.

Due to its genius design Tottenham's state of the art stadium has been able to PULSATE in order to survive adverse weather conditions without damage.
