Zouma is at the centre of an animal cruelty storm after footage emerged of him KICKING and SLAPPING his pet moggy.

His name was loudly booed by home and away fans alike when he was included in the Hammers' starting line-up for the Watford clash earlier this week.

But now certain Irons fans seem to have made light of the situation with a chant joking about the incident.

Outraged supporters have since taken to social media to condemn the offensive lyrics

TV funnyman Adil Ray tweeted a clip of fans singing the chant and captioned it: "Rewarded with a chant. Vile."

One follower replied: "Vile but they are in the minority and he is going to face opposition fans with long memories. I doubt if he will be playing in England long."

Another user wrote: "This is appalling and the club are effectively endorsing his behaviour."

And someone added: "As you say, vile! And West Ham making it acceptable by continuing to play Zouma!"

Zouma was initially included in the Hammers' starting line-up for their 2-2 draw with Leicester on Sunday afternoon.

But the 27-year-old defender withdrew himself minutes before kick-off after complaining of feeling unwell.

West Ham boss David Moyes later told reporters Zouma had been ill overnight.

The Scot said: "He was ill before the game, wanted to play, we wanted him to play as well.

"He was sick during the night, he stayed away from the players and did not eat much. Once he got out he did not think it was possible.

"We told Issa Diop to be ready. It is a stomach bug, probably something he has eaten."

Moyes added: "I hope that we have changed a bit of how West Ham is perceived, but more on the pitch.

"We have a good, exciting young team that we are trying to improve.

"West Ham have done great work down the East End of London, young supporters coming in and a lot of good things being done.

"We should not allow something like this to blight what has gone on.

"A mistake has been made and there are managers with players who have made mistake.

"You want to feel there is forgiveness and an apology has been made."

The RSPCA is still understood to be investigating the player over the cat-kicking incident amid reports it could offer him animal welfare LESSONS in the aftermath.
