Revealed: Chelsea's stance on summer sale of Kepa Arrizabalaga

A fresh insight into the stance of the powers-that-be at Premier League giants Chelsea when it comes to the future of shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been provided on Thursday.

The name of Spanish international Kepa has of course come back to the fore in a major way in west London over the course of the last month.

This comes with the 27-year-old having been forced to step up as Chelsea's first-choice option between the posts, whilst usual no.1 Edouard Mendy was away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

And Kepa, long criticised for his shortcomings since making the move to Stamford Bridge, has, in turn, stepped in a major way.

In a timely reminder of his immense talents, the former Athletic Club standout has looked a man reborn, shining amid a string of top-class individual displays.

Such form has inevitably culminated in interest in Kepa's signature resurfacing ahead of the summer transfer window, with Mendy, upon his return, expected to take back up first-choice duties with immediate effect.

And, as alluded to above, it appears as though Thomas Tuchel and co., as a result, have already come to a decision on the future of their backup shot-stopper.

As per a report from reliable football.london pair Adam Newson and Alan Smith, Chelsea 'will be open' to offers for Kepa ahead of next season.

Though the Spaniard himself is understood to be content with life in west London, any proposals which make financial sense for the Blues as a whole will be taken into serious consideration ahead of the summer.

Palmeiras clash

Turning attentions back towards the immediate job-at-hand at Chelsea, Kepa could yet be afforded his latest chance to shine this weekend.

This comes with Thomas Tuchel's troops set to face off against Brazilian heavyweights Palmeiras, in the finale of the Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday evening.

Edouard Mendy has linked back up with the Pensioners' squad ahead of the showpiece occasion, but Kepa could yet be chosen ahead of the Senegalese at The Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, as a reward for his recent form.
