Norwegian striker Erling Haaland is hot property and not just for football clubs hoping to lure him away from Borussia Dortmund this summer, he also has Nike and Puma scrapping it out to secure his next boot deal.
The 21-year-old has been with Nike for a long time, but his previous deal expired in January and he has yet to agree new terms, giving hope for rival companies, hoping to associate his image with their brand.
According to Futbol Aleman, both Nike and Puma are prepared to offer Haaland in the region of 50 million euros over five years to wear and endorse their products. The brands are in negotiations with the player's agent Mino Raiola.
The Norway international signed his first deal with Nike when he was with RB Salzburg. That contract was worth around one million euros, but he has come a long way since then and is now a much more valuable asset.
A decision is expected soon and, while Nike have the advantage of their longstanding relationship with the player, it has been reported in Bild that Alfe-Inge Haaland, the striker's father, regularly watches Dortmund's games alongside Bjorn Gulden, CEO of Puma and a fellow Norwegian.
