Chelsea defender Christensen back to succeed at Bayern Munich

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has been backed to succeed at Bayern Munich.

Reports have claimed that the Denmark international will sign with Bayern as a free agent in the summer.

Christensen has reached an impasse with Chelsea over a potential extension and is now assessing his other options.

The 26-year-old has previous Bundesliga experience, having enjoyed a two-year loan with Borussia Monchengladbach.

And Christensen's former coach at Gladbach, Andre Schubert, thinks he can excel with the Bavarian giants.

He told Sky Germany: "He's an outstandingly good player and also a national player.

"So I think he has the prerequisites to be at an absolute Top club as Bayern Munich can claim.

"He is a central defender at a very, very high level."
