The England international enjoyed his day out on the golf course

A series of Instagram photos began with Rice sitting on the wing of a plane as he prepared to jet off to Fife.

And he then went on to detail his experience in Scotland with various shots of him playing alongside some of his friends.

As well as the snaps, Rice also added the caption: "Scotland photo dump."

However, Leicester star James Maddison could not help but poke fun at the Hammers man.

In one photo, Rice was trying to chip his way out of a bunker he had unintentionally found himself in.

And Maddison replied to the social media post by saying: "All the best in that bunker."

Rice's fellow England international Tyrone Mings also piped up about his trip to the Scottish golf course.

The Villa man added: "Looks sick mate. How did you get up there?," along with a heart face and a money emoji.

Rice is enjoying some well-earned time off having featured 28 times already for West Ham this season.

He has played the full 90 minutes in all but one of the Hammers' Premier League games.

And as well as his ever-present energy, Rice has also contributed three goals and four assists in all competitions.

West Ham went into the winter break with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Manchester United as Marcus Rashford's stoppage time goal handed the Red Devils victory.

And Rice fuelled rumours of a move to Old Trafford with his post-match comments.

He said: "I was loving it. Every time I come to Old Trafford, I've always said it's one of my favourite places to play.

"It's an amazing stadium."

West Ham's next game after the short break comes against non-League Kidderminster in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, February 5.

And they then return to Premier League action three days later when they host Watford at the London Stadium.

David Moyes' side currently sit fifth in the table, one point behind United.
