Tanguy Ndombele close to signing for PSG

Antonio Conte's arrival at Tottenham Hotspur has done little to improve Tanguy Ndombele's form, and the French midfielder has all but been given up on by the Italian coach, leaving Paris Saint-Germain with a clear run to complete his signing.

Mauricio Pochettino brought the former Lyon playmaker to Spurs, but was dismissed in that very same season, although a reunion is now highly likely.

PSG are looking to bolster their squad as Pochettino seeks to improve his level of control over a star-studded squad, even if rumours persist that Zinedine Zidane will be replacing him at the end of the current season.

The 2021/22 season will only be considered a success by Nasser Al-Khelaifi if the team wins the Champions League, and time is of the essence with it possible that Kylian Mbappe departs on a free transfer in the summer.

Pochettino wants Ndombele to add balance to his midfield, with one of the main problems at the Parc des Princes this season being defensive transitions.

Problems with Wijnaldum

Gini Wijnaldum's arrival was suppose to alleviate such an issue, But the Dutch international has found it difficult to adapt to football under the Argentine.

"I never talk about players from other clubs, PSG like other clubs, are open to different options to try and improve," Pochettino explained to the press.

"I think everything is open, there is a week left in the transfer window."

Negotiations are underway between Spurs and the French club over a loan move for the French midfielder, although there was brief talk over a possible swap involving Leandro Paredes.

This plan was not welcomed at all by the Parisian club, and as such there now needs to be a further discussion on the terms of a sole-loan deal for Ndombele.

For Conte, managing to move a player on would be a success, especially at a time when the Italian is desperate for reinforcements of his own after a slack display against Chelsea in which the North London club were outmatched.
