Brentford's Premier League clash with Wolves has been suspended after a drone was spotted hovering above the Community Stadium.

Players were quickly removed from the field of play, and the tannoy announcer apologised to the watching crowd.

As per the Premier League rules, referee Peter Bankes evacuated the pitch as soon as it was spotted.

Players headed back to the dressing room with some members of staff gathering in the tunnel.

Neither side had been able to break the deadlock at the time of stoppage, and the two sides headed back out onto the pitch after a 23 minute delay.

Drones are banned from flying over stadiums due to a 'number of risks'.

And the FA has cracked down on any unidentified object, in 2015 Nigel Wilson was fined £1,800 for flying drones over PremierLeague stadiums.

Wilson had startled police horses with the drone, and he was asked to forfeit his three drones by the police.

However, authorities are most worried about the use of drones for 'terrorist related activities'.

There had already been a lengthy stoppage of play at the Community Stadium after a sickening clash of heads between Rico Henry and Mathias Jensen.

Jensen was left with blood pouring down his face as a result of the clash.

Both were removed from the game, using concussion protocols, and Mads Roerslev and Shandon Baptiste came on.
