Politician Sylvine Thomassin was also targeted by graffiti as she runs for mayor in the town on the outskirts of Paris.
Critics have blasted her for appearing alongside Mbappe at campaign events over the years.
Thomassin was previously mayor of Bondy for nine years before losing in the May 2020 local elections.
She wrote in a statement on Facebook: “The attacks against me are already unacceptable and affect me every day as a woman, mother, politician.
"But when you threaten to kill someone who has nothing to do with politics just because they are close to me, it’s unbearable.
"These methods, in addition to being cowardly and mediocre, are a new attack on democracy and demonstrate the nauseating climate maintained by my opponents for months.
"This fresco was a magnificent symbol, a call to believe in your dreams and always fight to achieve them. Today, it is also this message of hope that has been damaged.
"I asked my lawyer to go to court. I see that it is only me who suffers from such treatment in this campaign, but I will not comment further.
"We should better despise these people. I had (Mbappe’s mum) Fayza on the phone and she thinks the same.”
Mbappe looks likely to leave France this year - possibly as early as this month - with Real Madrid increasingly confident they will land the World Cup winner’s signature.
