Fans joked that ITV left Roy Keane looking like he was on the verge of tears after tracking down the house he lived in during his time playing for Nottingham Forest.

Keane joined Forest as a 19-year-old in 1990 and spent three years with the club before joining Manchester United in 1993 and going on to win countless trophies.

The notoriously stern-faced Irishman still has fond memories of his time at the City Ground and emotionally reflected on that period while appearing as a pundit for their FA Cup clash with Arsenal.

The house he lived in during his spell with Forest was shown and Keane smiled before calling his time at Forest his "happiest days".

Fans were quick to take to social media to react to the heart-warming moment and the rare sight of Keane smiling.

One fan tweeted: “They’re going to make Roy Keane cry on ITV.”

Another fan noted fellow pundit Ian Wright's comments as they wrote: "Roy Keane and Ian Wright both having warm memories of Nottingham Forest.”

A third person wrote: “Roy Keane channelling his inner child talking about his early days at Forest. Actually smiling. Good to see.”

Meanwhile, one viewer simply tweeted: “Roy Keane smiles!!! The magic of the FA Cup.”

One Forest fan picked up on Keane's comments as they tweeted: “Roy Keane’s happiest times were in West Bridgeford.”

The seven-time Premier League champion also recalled one interaction he had with legendary Forest boss Brian Clough.

Keane revealed his former manager once threatened to send him to the circus after one goal celebration as he explained: “I done an Irish version of a somersault which is a rolley-polley.

"After the game, pretty pleased with myself, one nil, scored the winning goal and he did threaten me with I should go to the circus if I ever celebrate like that again so he was good at keeping me grounded.”
