Chelsea's forgotten man Lewis Baker has made his second appearance for the Blues eight years after his debut at the age of 26.

Thomas Tuchel's side were cruising against Chesterfield in their third-round FA Cup tie when the German looked to his bench.

Baker was part of a double substitution alongside Harvey Vale to replace Christian Pulisic and Andreas Christensen just before the hour mark.

When Baker entered the pitch it was his second Chelsea appearance, his first coming a staggering eight years ago.

In a similar situation, in January 2014, Baker was an 87th-minute substitute for an FA Cup third round tie against Derby County.

One fan tweeted with laughing emoji's: "Wtf is Baker still at the club???"

Another fan added: "Casting no aspersions but who benefits from keeping a player for 8 years and playing him twice?"

"Why tf is Lewis Baker still on our books man? 26 years old and only played for us twice. Get him gone man," a third added.

A fourth tweeted: How's Lewis Baker still a Chelsea player? Man should be plying his trade in the English Championship."

Baker had looked set to make his second Chelsea appearance last month.

Tuchel's side had been ravaged by Covid ahead of Chelsea's clash with Brentford in the Carabao Cup.

With the hectic Christmas period on the horizon, Baker was called up to the first-team squad to participate in training, and rumours persisted he could be given game time.

However, Baker also tested positive for Covid, squashing the rumours.
