Kylian Mbappe was named the Player of the Year in Dubai

A host of awards were handed out during the ceremony.

Lewandowski was named the 2020 Player of the Year.

But he was beaten to the prize this year, as Kylian Mbappe was the big winner at the Armani Hotel at the Burj Khalifa.

Lewandowski did collect the inaugural Diego Maradona Award for the most goals scored in a calendar year and the fans' Player of the Year, sponsored by TikTok.

Liverpool legend Ian Rush was also in attendance with his wife Carol Anthony.

Former England boss Fabio Capello looked happy to be invited as he posed with wife Laura Ghisi.

Football royalty such as Roberto Mancini, Patrick Kluivert and Italian star Leonardo Bonucci also seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Early winners on the night were Chelsea, who won the Team of the Year, and Italy, who were named the National Team of the Year.

Bonucci went on to win the Defender of the Year prize with his Italy boss Mancini collecting the Coach of the Year trophy.

Cristiano Ronaldo was named as the Top Goal Scorer of all Time. His trophy was collected by his agent Jorge Mendes.

That's because the 36-year-old is preparing for his club Manchester United's Premier League game against Newcastle.

Federico Pastorello was named as Agent of the Year. Barcelona were named as the Best Women's Club of the Year, with Alexia Putellas collecting the trophy.

The 27-year-old midfielder was also named as the Women's Player of the Year.

Brazil legend Ronaldinho was given a Career Award for his genius on the football pitch.
