Manchester United are set to hold talks with wantaway forward Anthony Martial with the Frenchman expressing his preference for a move to La Liga side Sevilla this January transfer window
Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has made his transfer preference clear as he eyes a loan move to Sevilla in the January window.
The 26-year-old is set to hold talks over his future with manager Ralf Rangnick in the coming days after falling out of favour with the Red Devils.
Barcelona and Juventus are understood to have expressed an interest in signing the France international despite his last start coming back in October in a defeat against Everton.
But Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley has informed Sky Sports that his client is in fact seeking a loan move to the second-placed La Liga side.
Anthony Martial is reportedly seeking a move to Sevilla
It comes after Lamboley confirmed earlier this month that Martial was ready for a fresh challenge after six years in Manchester.
Martial’s United career has proved somewhat of an anti-climax with the striker’s most prolific tally by some distance coming in the 2019/20 season.
Since then, he has notched just five goals in 29 league appearances across the last two seasons, having played just five matches this campaign.
That justifies Sevilla being the Frenchman’s preferred destination as he will expect to receive more game time there than the other clubs involved.
Man United boss Ralf Rangnick will hold talks with the forward about his future in the coming days
Martial’s meeting with Rangnick is set to clarify whether his future lies with the Old Trafford club or elsewhere.
Speaking on Lamboley’s comments earlier this month, Rangnick said: “I don’t communicate with agents via the media or the press.
"The player hasn’t spoken with me or with us about it.
"To be honest, what his agent has said in the media is not that much of interest.”
